WELCOME TO WOMENS FITNESS IN WOODLAND AT KAIA FIT

At Kaia FIT, we do things a little differently. We focus on the specific health and fitness needs of women through a variety of women’s fitness programs. Our Kaia FIT nutrition programs and group fitness classes – along with a great community of supportive women working together to reach their goals – can help you achieve your best health and best life. Three times a year we offer special women’s boot camps, and throughout the year we provide a variety of group workout classes to keep you interested and challenged. Options include cross-training classes, Yoga-Pilates, barre classes, a TRX workout program, and more. We believe that when you participate in a welcoming and non-judgmental group exercise environment, you have the best odds of reaching your fitness goals and forming lasting relationships with other women working toward similar goals.

THINGS TO DO IN WOODLAND

If you’re in the Woodland area, you also have several options when it comes to staying active.

  • Velocity Island Park. Is there any way to get some healthy exercise that’s more fun than a waterpark? We don’t think so. At Velocity Island Park, you’ll find a 15-acre facility jam-packed with fun (and healthy) activities for everyone in your family. You can try out the Aqua Park with its thrilling obstacle course, give wakeboarding a shot, or just spend some time swimming and relaxing in the sun. The onsite restaurant offers a few healthy options, too.
  • The Bike Campaign. Besides bicycle repair, The Bike Campaign also offers bike clinics in Woodland and Davis designed to help you build biking confidence. These clinics are great for anyone who enjoys biking. Students learn things such as how to ride in traffic safely, bike maintenance and repair, and more. If you’d like, you can also book a private bicycle coaching session.
  • Sonoma Canopy Tours. Do you love adventure? Are you looking for something out of the ordinary? Sonoma Canopy Tours delivers big time with world-class zipline tours through the treetops of the Redwood Forest. Choose from a variety of trips – including a nighttime tour. Sonoma Canopy Tours also donates money (a dollar for every excursion booked) to fund outdoor adventures for at-risk kids.

Fitness became a huge source of happiness as well as gaining personal and professional success in the industry in my 20s, prior to that, I had zero interest until Melika asked if id be interested in doing new member gym tours at Oasis Club and Spa. I have worked with her off and on ever since, I always return to her gyms. The energy is too good to stay away for long. I was a PT for 10 years, a group X instructor for 8 and a figure competitor for 2, before I discovered yoga about 3 years ago. Yoga was prescribed by a holistic doctor in combination with other treatments for severe depression after leaving an abusive relationship.  Ashtanga Yoga, all 8 limbs, was a literal life saver for me. Since then, it has been the most beneficial modality I have added to my curriculum. I am currently a barber in Sacramento, a mother of a first year UC Davis student, an avid motorcycle rider, a homesteader with no TV and a 500sq ft tiny house. I am an avid marksman as well as training in the compound and recurve bow shooting, On the complete flipside, I have been a seamstress since I was 13 and an obsessive crocheter and embroiderer.

Coach

I became a Kaia Girl in 2010. Years of team sports and year round conditioning had come to an end and I was lost and left wandering aimlessly around the gym. After just one Kaia workout I was hooked! My love for Kaia evolved into me becoming at KAT girl and then a Coach and Kaia Manager in 2013. I ended an intense graduate program and started my career in a town without a Kaia (can you imagine?!). I was Kaia-less for over a year and fell off the Kaia lifestyle bandwagon to say the least! Kaia fills a void in me that is hard to describe in words. This is because Kaia is more than a workout regime. Kaia effects your life physically, mentally, socially and even spiritually. Kaia makes woman feel empowered, united, positive and resilient and these characteristics will make their appearances inside and outside of the gym, with your partners, family, friendships and even your work. Kaia also helps maintain and grow self-worth while continuously achieving things we once thought were not attainable. My favorite experiences coaching Kaia include witnessing numerous women cross the finish line on the dreaded “timed mile”. I also remember having a woman pick up a handbag that weighed the same amount that she had lost and the look on her face was priceless. In the rare moments not spent at Kaia: I keep very busy as a Speech Pathologist. I love to spend free time with my ‘team mate’ Ryan, my family and our pooch Kota. In the summer, you will find me at the lake camping and water skiing! I also love to garden and feel happiest when the ocean is near! Favorite Kaia friendly food: Just one!? Loaded salads and soups are my favorite and also my saving grace. 🙂 Rare talent: I’m pretty good at eating! (Secret)- also played rugby in college.

Amanda was born in Watsonville, CA into a family of athletes. At the age of 8, she was quite the bowler with the accomplishment of becoming one of the top 10 youth bowlers on the national level. Amanda and her family moved to Woodland when she was 9 years old where she then became involved in baseball/softball and volleyball. She played both sports throughout grade school continuing to junior college. Amanda has been a coach of group sports and continues to play volleyball with friends in the local city league. In 2009, Amanda married her husband Kenny Casias, a Woodland native. They have two children, Ava and Eli. She has worked for Woodland Healthcare going on 12 years and is currently going to school to further her education and to pursue a career in the medial field. With Amanda’s busy schedule, she found it difficult to make time for physical activity. She started as a Kaia girl in May 2017 and was hooked after her first day. Kaia has become a part of who she is and has developed a new found passion for health and wellness. In Amanda’s spare time, she loves to snowboard, shop, serve at church, and go on bike rides with her family. She is excited to be a part of the Kaia family and is looking forward to helping other Kaia girls on their journey and getting to know them.

BARRE

Our barre-based class is a unique combination of postures inspired by ballet, yoga, Pilates and Kaia. Using the barre as a prop to balance, you’ll complete a series of isometric holds combined with high reps of small range movements to elongate and tone your major muscle groups.

In addition to the barre, classes incorporate pilates balls, yoga blocks, and/or resistance bands for increased endurance, challenge and focus. Following each set of holds, you’ll rest and recovery with a short series of stretches and poses to increase flexibility prior to advancing.
Kaia Barre is a low-impact class that perfectly complements our program offerings. Meet us at the barre and try your first class for free!

Participating locations may vary. See the schedule page for more details.

DANCE

Our dance fitness class is rooted in traditional dance. We use those foundational moves and offer a class that is easy enough for beginners yet challenging enough for the more seasoned dancer. The simplicity of the routines allows you to keep moving with ease. Although this is a workout, it feels more like a dance party with your girlfriends.

RUNNING

Improve your speed, skill, endurance, stamina, and strength with our Kaia running program. The program works on developing running skills that can increase speed, endurance, and overall fitness. The program is designed for you to run at your pace and and help you see improvements every step of the way.

The Kaia training is a simple, progressive program designed for women of all ages and all fitness levels. Whether you are a walker, jogger, or runner, you will be able to join this program and move at your own pace. Research has shown that even 20 to 30 minutes of running (two to three times per week) is enough to help you lose or maintain weight and improve many other important health markers, i.e. your cholesterol, blood pressure and insulin response.

Don’t be intimidated by the Kaia Run program name, each class will have walkers, joggers and runners. Keep in mind that the first mile is the hardest mile you will ever run. Once you get off the starting block, things only get easier. All you have to do is be patient and disciplined in your training, and that is where Kaia

POWER YOGA

Kaia Yoga combines mind and body with a power yoga and core-strengthening weekly workout with Pilates-style techniques. We focus on balance, strength, and cardiovascular fitness through stretching, strength training and dynamic movement to improve overall fitness levels.

By creating long, lean muscles, Yoga promotes improved coordination, greater flexibility and a fuller range of motion, with a strong body that’s less prone to injury. Yoga keeps the mind centered and reduces stress through positive thoughts and a sense of mindfulness, which also inspires mental strength and confidence.

Yin Yoga, or restorative yoga, is a quiet contemplative practice. It targets the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues – ligaments, joints, bones, and the deep fascia networks of the body. Poses are held for 1 minute or more and transitions between poses are gentle and slow. This class is an excellent compliment to our other classes, provides dedicated stretching, and is known to reduce stress and anxiety.
